Wanderlust – Interiors around the world

With most of us forced to staycations this year, we wanted to bring you a taste of other countries through their interiors. This is a rather subjective list of some of our favourite places around the world in terms of interior design. Let yourself get inspired by interiors around the world and plan for some renovations once we all return to “normal”.

Ibiza

As one of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza is known for its bohemian, yet elevated and uncomplicated style. Characteristic of this are light and natural fabrics, wooden features and low, grounded furniture. True holiday feel that can be created indoors and outdoors, instantly transporting you to the Mediterranean Sea.

India

Warm deep colours, filigree carvings and intricate lighting is what makes Indian interior design stand out. The country with the festival of colour knows how to use it. With its deep rich colours, it transports you to the land of spice and cocoons you in its warm aura. Lighting is key in Indian interiors and many lamps are intricately filigree, supporting the detailed carvings in pillars and arches. A true harmony between interior design and architecture.

France

French interior design for many is divided between Parisian chic and the more southern, rich country style. Both come with their own allure and are eponymous of French style. Parisian style is characterised much like fashion through its simplicity and easy elegance. Especially in contemporary interiors this becomes evident, with high ceilings and casually thrown together furniture that meshes perfectly.

On the other side, Provencal country style appears grand and laid back elegant. Where farm life meets holiday home away from the city – a perfect combination.

Morocco

Bold colours, intricate patterns and vibrant fabrics is what most associate with Morocco. Rugs and lamps, as well as low wooden furniture are key pieces in a Moroccan style interior. The vibrant colours elevate a Moroccan scheme and create an oriental feel.

Scandinavia

Whether you like it or loathe it, Scandi style transcends cultures. With its muted colour palette and minimalist furniture and cosy accessories, it is a style loved by many. Clean lines and plush throws provide the Hygge feeling so many of us long for at home. It’s a classic for a reason.

USA – Hamptons

Coastal meets nautical meets effortlessly elegant – that’s what the Hamptons are all about. A home away from home where you can relax and entertain seamlessly. Hues of blue and natural materials feature in harmonious ways, incorporating elegant and laid back furniture alike. A true sense of effortless luxury.
